Who Should Buy the GoTrax G2?

G2

Overall, the GoTrax G2 electric scooter is a great option for both children and adults who are into recreational riding.

This particular GoTrax model isn’t meant for commuting. One of the biggest reasons why this is a great option for children is that it is perfect for beginners. Therefore, even if your child has never ridden an electric scooter before, there is a good chance that the GoTrax G2 is going to work well for him or her.

It also has a low price, making it affordable for the vast majority of families. Because it can stand up the routine wear and tear, it can be a great option for children who are looking for an electric scooter

Features of the GoTrax G2

A few of the most important features of the GoTrax G2 include:

Deck

Gotrax G2 Deck

The vast majority of scooters from this popular brand have a distinctive look and feel to them. The GoTrax G2 maintains this design. The deck is light, casual, and elegant.

Because it is thin and light, it is one of the most popular features of the scooter.

Furthermore, the deck comes with a powerful grip tape that will prevent riders from slipping. Therefore, this is an important safety feature that may be able to reduce the chances of getting hurt. Even though it is not the biggest deck, there is still plenty of room to stand comfortably while riding.

Handlebars and Tech Stack

GoTrax G2 Screen

The handlebars of the scooter are impressive. There are protective rubber covers that prevent someone from slipping when the hands get sweaty.

The left handlebar is home to the brake lever. The right handlebar features the throttle and allows the rider to go faster.

There is also an impressive tech stack that displays information regarding the current speed, the battery level, and relevant speed settings.

Underneath the screens are the charging port and the power button. The hook is directly beneath them, making it a convenient feature.

Because all the information is right in front of the rider, it is relatively easy to make adjustments, responding to changing road conditions during the ride.

Tires

GoTrax G2 Tire

The tires of the GoTrax G2 have been constructed using solid rubber. This means they are durable tires that will virtually never go flat. They are just over 6 inches in diameter and are incredibly tough.

They will not require any maintenance; however, you should still take a look at them every once in a while to make sure there is not a serious problem.

On the other hand, because the tires are made of solid rubber, the ride is not that smooth. There is always a trade-off between durability and ride quality. Overall, the tires and wheels can stand up to an impressive amount of wear and tear.

This G2 electric scooter is one of the only GoTrax models that utilize solid tires. Nearly every other model features air-filled pneumatic tires.

Lights

GoTrax G2 Light

The GoTrax G2 comes with a very powerful LED headlight at the top of the stem.

The headlight is angled slightly downward, allowing the rider to clearly see what is in front of him or her during the trip.

Because the light is so bright, it will be easy for people to spot the scooter at night. Even though it does cast a long distance, you might want to get your child a more powerful light for riding at night because the angle is not optimal.

There are also plenty of reflective stickers on various persons of the scooter. Even though there is no taillight, the front headlight is still relatively powerful.

Braking

GoTrax G2 brake

There is an impressive redundant braking system on the GoTrax G2. There is an electronic brake in the motor that is activated using the brake lever on the left handlebar.

Then, there is also a rear fender foot break that acts as a backup. Because the foot brake on the rear tire is activated manually, there will always be a working braking system on the scooter.

When both brakes are activated at the same time, the GoTrax G2 has a very short stopping distance, even if the rider is going at maximum speed.

Generally, I like when scooters have a disc brake on the rear wheel, but kids are tough on scooters and having a disc brake is more delicate than a foot brake.

Max Speed

The maximum speed of the GoTrax G2 is just over 15 MPH. Even though the GoTrax G2 is not the fastest scooter on the market, it does accelerate relatively quickly.

It is more than fast enough for adults looking to get to work, and older children should have a blast riding it. The speed might be a bit too high for younger children.

The electric motor also has 200w, which is impressive for a kid’s scooter.

Range

The GoTrax G2 also has a range of just over 7 miles on a single charge; however, this can vary depending on the riding conditions. For example, taking a bunch of uphill climbs will shorten the battery life.

The range is great for kids looking to have fun and can work well for short trips. This is certainly not a commuter scooter like the GoTrax GXL commuter V2.

The battery is a 24 V power source and is placed inside the stem. This can make the scooter feel a bit front-loaded. This also protects the battery from most impacts.

Water Resistance

The G2 e-scooter features a water resistance rating of IP54. This means that the scooter is able to stand up to a wide variety of splashes from just about every angle; however, this does not mean the scooter is waterproof.

For example, the scooter is not going to survive if you submerge it in water. On the other hand, it can handle some rain or snow with ease.

Because this is still not recommended by the manufacturer, this is something you should try to avoid.

Colors

There are several colors from which you can choose. The GoTrax G2 is available in white, black, and grey. Every scooter has a few red accents, regardless of the main color you select.

Portability and Weight

GoTrax G2 fold

Overall, the GoTrax G2 weighs about 21 pounds. This means that it is one of the lightest scooters available today, making it relatively easy to transport.

Furthermore, the GoTrax G2 is foldable. When you fold up a scooter, it is incredibly small. For example, some people may be able to lift it up with one hand when it is folded completely.

This means that you should be able to carry the GoTrax G2 easily from place to place when not in use.

Quality of Construction

Quality

Even though this is one of the cheapest scooters available, it still features very high-quality construction. This is particularly important if you are looking for a scooter for a child who is going to give it a beating.

The scooter itself is made from aluminum alloy. Furthermore, it has solid, durable tires made from rubber.

Even though the defect rate might be higher than more expensive scooters on the market, it should stand up the routine wear and tear as long as you treat it well.

This scooter has been designed to stand up to a wide variety of stresses.

Charging Outlet and Charging Time

The GoTrax G2 has a 24 V battery, and charging the battery completely takes about four hours. The charging port for the battery is located at the top of the stem. You should see the power button next to it.

The charging port is protected by a plastic cap. When the scooter is charging, the indicator light on the scooter should show up red. Then, when the battery is fully charged, the light should turn green, letting you know the charging process is finished.

Last update was on: April 17, 2024 6:56 pm

Bluetooth App

Right now, there is no app available from GoTrax, which means that their scooters usually do not have the option to connect through Bluetooth. This includes the GoTrax G2.

Warranty

If you decide to go with the GoTrax G2, the standard warranty and return policies will likely apply. If you return the scooter within 30 days, you should receive a full refund.

The most important parts of the scooter typically come with a 90-day warranty. Keep in mind that the warranty typically does not cover water damage and any damage to the scooter that may be caused by modifications.

The customer support team is also relatively accessible. You can work with the customer support team via chat, email, or phone call.

The G2 electric scooter is a great option for people across the spectrum and has already become one of the most popular models. It is light, fast, relatively inexpensive, and safe. At the same time, is this the best electric scooter for kids?

Safety

Overall, the GoTrax G2 is a relatively safe scooter. It has a sturdy design that can stand up to routine wear and tear. It also features a relatively powerful front headlight that makes it easy to spot at night.

Furthermore, the GoTrax G2 can stand up to light precipitation. At the same time, the scooter is relatively light, which makes it prone to significant impacts.

Therefore, you should always make sure you wear a helmet when riding the scooter, no matter how experienced the rider might be.

Be sure to keep these features in mind when you are trying to decide if the GoTrax G2 is right for your child.

GoTrax G2 Review:

Overall, the GoTrax G2 is a solid scooter. It is one of the cheapest scooters around, which makes it affordable for the vast majority of people.

It is extremely durable, particularly when compared to the price. Even though it is not going to be as durable as scooters that are more expensive, it still has a wide variety of benefits, including a slip-resistant deck, a high water resistance rating, a relatively high maximum speed, and a decent range of 7 miles on a single charge.

Even though the headlight is relatively powerful, you may want to install a more powerful headlight when you are riding at night.

Keep in mind that reflective strips are not the same as taillights, and you should always wear a helmet when you are riding a scooter.

Finally, because the tires are made of solid rubber, they are durable tires; however, the ride is not going to be that smooth.

Cons of the GoTrax G2

There are several drawbacks of the GoTrax G2 to consider as well. A few important drawbacks a note include:

  • Even though the scooter features solid, durable tires, the ride isn’t that smooth.

You should compare the drawbacks to the benefits before you make a decision.

GoTrax G2 vs. Segway Zing E12

Zing 12

If you are comparing the GoTrax G2 to the Segway Ninebot Zing E12, the first thing you will notice is that the Segway is far more expensive.

It has tubeless, wear-resistant tires, ambient lighting under the deck, and three riding modes that allow you to adjust the riding speed (which also affects the range you can get on a single charge. The frame is also durable and light.

One important drawback to note is that the Ninebot E12 has a top speed of 11.2 MPH, which is lower than that of the GoTrax G2.

The Zing E12 is lighter than the GoTrax G2, coming in at just 18 pounds. The range is a bit shorter as well, at just over six miles, but it is still a great cheap kids’ scooter.

GoTrax G2 vs. Razor e100

The Razor e100 has been one of the most popular scooters on the market for many years.

It doesn’t have the same top speed as the GoTrax G2, but that might make the Razor E100 better for younger children.

It is a great entry-level platform, not that expensive, and will stand up to routine wear and tear. It is not nearly as durable as the GoTrax G2, but your child might outgrow the Razor E100 relatively quickly anyway. The Razor E100 comes in a variety of colors as well.

GXL V2

If your child is ready for a souped-up scooter, then you might want to check out the GoTrax GXL V2. The GXL V2 has a higher top speed and a longer maximum distance on a single charge.

In addition, the GXL V2 has a slightly larger wheel diameter, and the tires are pneumatic, which provides for a much more smooth ride.

Furthermore, the GoTrax GXL V2 is a more durable ride overall. Even though it is a bit more expensive, this could be a better scooter for teenagers.
