The Features of the GoTrax GXL V2 Electric Scooter
Before deciding on an electric scooter, it is important to take a closer look at the features. Some of the most important features of the GoTrax GXL V2 scooter include:
Overall, the deck of the GoTrax GXL V2 scooter measures 19 inches by 6 inches, which is outstanding when compared to other scooters of a similar size. This means that you will have plenty of room to stretch out, allowing you to remain comfortable during your ride. The deck also sits about four inches off of the ground. Your ankles, knees, shoulders, and hips will be able to align comfortably for a smooth ride.
The handlebars of the scooter do not fold down, so this is one feature that could be improved; however, they are wide enough to allow you to have a natural, neutral posture as you ride. While the handlebars are a bit small, this is something that you can improve if you feel like your grip is a bit tight. You can add extra padding yourself to change your grip slightly. Because the handlebars are a bit short, the GoTrax GXL v2 electric scooter is that much more compact, making it easier to store. The height of the handlebars compared to the deck is 37 inches.
The gxl V2 scooter comes with dual, 8.5-inch, pneumatic tires that contain inner tubes. The tires are outstanding and will provide you with a comfortable ride. Furthermore, pneumatic tires will also perform well in wet conditions and provide more comfort, durability, and versatility than a solid tire, which can become incredibly slippery when the road gets wet. Even though the pneumatic tires of this scooter are durable, there is still the possibility that they can get punctured or lose their air from time to time; however, they can be pumped up again relatively easily. If there is a puncture, the tire can be repaired.
The GoTrax GXL V2 Electric Scooter does have lights but they are not very bright. There is a single LED light on the front that will last for a long time; however, it is not that bright. The scooter also comes with a rear reflector light; however, there is no taillight. As a result, you should make sure that you add extra lights if you plan on riding the GoTrax GXL V2 Electric Scooter at night. That way, you will be easier for cars to spot, making this ride safer.
Portability and Weight
The GoTrax GXL V2 Electric Scooter weighs 26 pounds, making it one of the lightest scooters on the market. Furthermore, this electric scooter is also incredibly portable. It folds down and locks quickly and quietly, allowing you to transport it easily when you don’t want to ride it. Then, you can toss it in the car easily. When it folds down, the dimensions are about 39 inches by 17 inches by 14 inches, ensuring that it is easy to store in a compact space.
The Quality of Construction
The build quality of the GoTrax GXL V2 Electric Scooter is one of the main advantages. It is sturdy, sound, and reliable. The scooter is easy to control and while it might not have a lot of the bells and whistles that some of the other designs have, the scooter’s controls are intuitive and easy to use. Because there aren’t any extra levers, knobs, or switches, there is less that can go wrong with the scooter. It is simple to fold and unfold, the scooter is easy to put together, and there are even tools that make the job go quickly. The scooter even comes with safe, solid packaging that will protect it in transit, preventing it from getting damaged along the way.
Charging Outlet and Charging Time
To charge the battery, you should remove it from the scooter. The battery itself has a slot for something that looks similar to an aux cord, so you’ll look for this connection. You will connect the charger to the battery and then plug it into a standard wall outlet. The battery is 36 V so make sure it is compatible with the electricity flowing through your wall. The battery itself will charge fully in four hours. With a full charge, you should be able to travel somewhere between 9 and 12 miles (or about 20 km). The scooter uses a standard Li-ion battery that should last for about three years. As far as the battery life of the scooter itself goes, you should be able to see this displayed near the handlebars.
There is a three-month warranty on the GoTrax GXL V2 Electric Scooter and its battery. The customer service team is responsive if you have any questions or concerns about the scooter. Depending on where you purchase the scooter from, the seller might provide an additional warranty; however, this is something that you will need to clarify with the individual retailer before you make a purchase decision. The warranty on the GoTrax GXL V2 Electric Scooter compares favorably to other scooters on the market.
Safety and Brakes
Overall, the GoTrax GXL v2 electric scooter is a safe budget scooter. The brake, front regenerative and rear disc brake, are the most important safety feature and they work well without skipping or braking down with routine use. Furthermore, the pneumatic tires are another important safety feature, as they will grip the ground well even in wet conditions. The front LED light is not that bright but is still relatively easy to spot from a distance. The rear reflector is exactly what you would expect; however, the lack of a rear taillight is one safety feature that could be improved. As always, no matter how safe the scooter might be, it is important to wear a helmet while using it at all times.
These are a few of the many features that everyone should consider when they are trying to decide if the GoTrax GXL V2 electric scooter is right for them.
GoTrax GXL V2 Electric Scooter Review
If you are looking for an inexpensive GoTrax scooter, then the GXL V2 electric scooter should be on your list. First, when the scooter arrives, the packaging is very intuitive. It is clear the manufacturer cares about protecting the GXL v2 in transit. This model comes with all of the tools you need to assemble it in a matter of minutes.
Then, the GoTrax electric scooter is easy to charge as well. The battery is inside the scooter so you just plug the charger right into the wall, and will charge in just a few hours. This means that whether you are looking for an electric scooter for recreational purposes or to take you to work, this commuting electric scooter will do the job well.
When you decide to hop on the GoTrax GXL v2 commuting electric scooter, the ride is smooth and handles well. Even though the scooter doesn’t have an actual suspension system, the air-filled tires provide a smooth ride. While the maximum speed isn’t that great, the scooter is the best scooter for commuting at a very reasonable price point. You’ll find this is a budget scooter that packs a lot of features for the money. Two of my favorite features of this gxl v2 scooter are the cruise control and the folding mechanism (I like to toss it in the car and ride in other places besides my neighborhood).
I can tell you I was bent out of shape about the fact that the manufacturer’s specs list a max speed of 15.5 mph (and the speedometer on the scooter said 15.5 mph) but our independent GPS only recorded a speed of 13 mph. I don’t know if they have a speed limiter if the 36v battery isn’t the right pairing for the motor or what the story is but, when a manufacturer says 15.5 mph, the scooter should hit that number. Maybe I wouldn’t be so aggravated if it was a 45 mph scooter and it went 42 mph but taking 2.5 mph off the max speed of this scooter is a 16% decrease in what I thought I was getting when I bought it.
The deck provides plenty of room and the handlebars of the GoTrax electric scooter are comfortable. While the lights aren’t great, you can add some extra lights if you desire. Despite this, the scooter is still very safe. In the end, this GoTrax GXL review ranks the GoTrax scooter as one of the top electric scooters available today, particularly given its low price point.
