Who should buy the Segway Ninebot Max G30P?
The Ninebot Max electric scooter is a great electric vehicle for the beginning and end of your commute, with more than enough comfort features and overall room to allow for longer distances as necessary.
The Kick scooter Max G30P remains an excellent choice for riders who are willing to carry a bit of weight when necessary, as it’s heavier than some scooters on the market.
However, it’s a great option for the price, and it’s designed to be long-lived. It’s sturdy, dependable, and will stand up to the wear and tear you’ll put it through. It’s also still light enough to be carried on public transit, thrown in the trunk of your car, or brought into the office after your commute.
This segway electric scooter is the perfect option to cover the first and last few miles of your commute – those areas where the bus doesn’t service, but it’s still quite a way to walk.
They’re great for shortening a longer commute while getting a bit of fresh air and sunshine. You can relax a bit, get a short scooter ride in, and see parts of your neighborhood that you might not otherwise get to enjoy — all from the deck of your Ninebot Max G30P or New Max G30LP.
What’s the difference between the Ninebot Max G30P and the New Max G30LP?
The Ninebot Max G30LP features a somewhat smaller footprint than the Ninebot Max G30P. Unfortunately, it doesn’t just lose a few inches from its handlebar height and from its deck. Along with that, the scooter also loses a bit of range due to other configuration factors.
However, when it comes to overall performance, the G30LP tends to be quite competitive with others in its class.
It does stand out with regard to braking ability, featuring one of the top ten best braking distances available. The original Max is a high-quality ride that users could enjoy.
The G30LP takes this concept and improves upon it, carrying the same features through in a slightly smaller package that weighs slightly less. If you need a scooter that weighs a little less, then this may be a good option for you.

Features of the Ninebot Max G30P
Deck
The deck of this Segway electric scooter features enhanced safety features, with plenty of standing space and a raised rubber surface with increased grip. Its dimensions are 19.8 in long x 6.8 in wide. The deck has 3.0 of ground clearance, and enough roof for the rider to stand in numerous positions. Whether you prefer to stand with your feet side by side or end to end, you should have plenty of space. The height from the deck to the handlebars is 40.2 inches.
Handlebars/Information Center/Tech Stack
The max scooter features a specialized cockpit with an intuitive LED dashboard. The display is bright enough for riders to clearly read in full sun and automatically adjusts to be dimmer at night when the scooter’s front lights are on.
There’s one button below this display that controls the power, mode, and lights. However, the rider can also opt to download a mobile app in order to control these features.
Cruise control and other buttons are all located in this tech stack as well. The ninebot max electric scooter comes with Bluetooth connectivity as an option, so you can connect to the segway ninebot app. Riders will also find maintenance signals and information about their remaining battery life in this general area.
The intuitive LED dashboard seems well constructed overall, with a clear display that’s easy to use, a thumb throttle that’s protected with rubber, and a safety bell (which is activated by rotating the bell wheel around the handlebars) and brake lever that are easy to access when necessary.
The handgrips are covered with high-textured rubber, providing the grip that a rider needs. These can make it easier to hang on when you’re in a tight spot, and can also provide extra cushion for longer commutes.
The dashboard also shows battery status including the remaining battery life as well as overall speed. You can expect to get a few years of battery life out of these models.
Riding Modes
The intuitive LED dashboard also lets you choose between several different riding modes.
There is an Eco mode that will provide you with a max speed of around 11 mph but will give you the most overall range. Then, there’s the “D” mode which will allow the Max scooter to go around 16-18 mph however, in this model you will find that acceleration is relatively slow.
You can change to the next to last of the power levels, the “Sport” mode which gives you all of the acceleration and torque the scooter can handle but you’ll find this mode will eat battery life.
However, if you find that you’ve got an extraordinary climbing slope this is the mode you will want to use. The Max scooter has a powerful drivetrain when using this mode and will propel the segway electric scooter up some serious inclines.
Tires
The Segway Ninebot has two 10 inch tubeless pneumatic tires. The tires are designed to be utilized on all types of terrain, without the worry of accidental tire deflation.
The tires are filled with air, but also come prefilled with tire slime. This helps to make the tires more resistant to tire deflation. Segway calls these a self-healing tire. A self-healing tire provides a comfortable cushioned ride on air-filled tires, without adding extra suspension.
This results in fewer flat tires because the slime inside the tire repairs small punctures as they occur. If you have zero desire to change a flat tire in the middle of your commute and need the reassurance that pneumatic tires offer, then this type of scooter may be the perfect option for you.
Lights
This electric vehicle features built-in front-facing lights and rear LED lights. It also includes a brake light and side reflectors.
These lights can help ensure that you stay safe and can see and be seen throughout your ride, no matter your destination. When you’re out on city streets in the early morning and late evening, it’s vitally important that you stay as visible as possible.
Having the correct lights on your scooter in the right locations can help make sure that drivers see you, which can prevent dangerous accidents. Segway understands this and has gone out of their way to install safety lights in all the right places on both of these scooter models.
Braking
The Segway Ninebot MaxG30P features a highly effective simultaneous dual brake, as well as rear-wheel drive. This innovative regenerative braking system includes a front-wheel mechanical drum brake, paired with a regenerative electrical brake on the back wheel.
The two combine to create a braking system that can stop you faster than ever, keeping you safe when it’s needed most. The braking process is smooth and fast and requires almost no effort from the rider.
The simultaneous dual brake allows for great stopping power because of the increased contact friction you get from having a brake in the front and the rear, even when you need to brake hard and fast, and the brakes only need minimal maintenance.
Speed
In our speed tests, the Segway Max G30LP hit 15 mph in 6.6 seconds. This is a second slower than the original Segway Ninebot Max G30P.
The Max G30LP has a kick-to-start motor with rear-wheel drive, so riders have to kickstart the motor up to about 2 mph before it will engage.
Neither of these electric scooters has a zero-start mode. Zero start mode allows the scooter to accelerate immediately when you pull the throttle, but it is not featured on these scooters.
The kick scooter max has a manufacturer’s claimed max speed of 18.6 mph. However, we only hit 18 mph for a few short seconds when on flat land. Some riders report being able to reach slightly higher max speed using the Segway Ninebot app through Bluetooth connectivity.
Range
In our testing, we found that the Ninebot Max G30P had a range of only 13.6 miles with its 350-watt motor when in the Sport mode.
This is quite a bit less of a range than we’d expected, but it’s still quite enough mileage for most daily commutes. When in eco mode, we found that the overall range of the Max G30P was 38 miles. The manufacturer’s specs indicate that you can get 40.4 miles out of a single charge.
The original Ninebot Max provides as much as 28.1 miles of range, however, which is more than enough for you to run about town, commute, and do your errands.
These range tests simulate real-world conditions in the highest performance model that the scooter offers. If you’re concerned about whether this scooter will work for your needs, it may make sense to determine the entire length of your commute from beginning to end, or how much you expect to need to ride your scooter each day. Then you’ll have a good idea of how many miles you’ll need to ride it, and if one of these models will work well for you.
Water resistance
The Max G30LP has a wide variety of safety features and is also quite capable of handling inclement weather. It carries an IPX5 water resistance rating.
While we don’t recommend that you ride in the rain as a regular event, the raised rubber grips on the deck of this scooter will also provide great traction if you get caught in a shower. Segway has built-in short circuit protection in case you do get stuck in some wet conditions.
The pneumatic tires also made the scooter perform amazingly well for us on wet roads. You never know when you’ll be headed to or from work and get caught in a sudden spring shower, so it’s good to know that these scooters were designed with that in mind.
You won’t want to take them out in severe weather or heavy winds, but they should be more than able to stand up to light rainfall or a mild sprinkle.
Portability & Weight
The Ninebot Max G30P weighs in at just over 41 pounds, making it a few pounds lighter than the original model. While this scooter isn’t an ultraportable model, it’s more than light enough to carry for a short while. This helps to make it a good option when you need a scooter for the first few or last few miles of your commute.
A scooter must be under 30 pounds and have a folding design in order to be considered ultraportable.
Ninebot KickScooter MAX G30P is easy to fold, bending into a manageable size in just 3 clicks. This makes it easy to carry your scooter onto public transit, put it in the trunk of your car, or take it anywhere else that you need to, quickly and conveniently.
Before you purchase your Segway, it makes sense to be sure that you can lift 30-40 pounds and carry it for the distance that you’ll need to.
Otherwise, you may need to work up to being able to carry it, which can be inconvenient, especially if you’d planned to start using your scooter for your commute immediately.
Quality of construction
This scooter has a classic build, which is what makes it a standout in the industry. Segway has really nailed both the large issues and the small details with regard to quality.
They’ve created a sturdy, dependable scooter that’s great to use as a daily commuter and feels like it’s created from one solid piece of metal. While the Max G30LP folds down, it doesn’t have the look or feel of a folding scooter. Its overall build quality is incredibly sturdy, with firmly welded pieces.
Sometimes, electric scooters just feel flimsy, especially when they fold up. You ride them and wonder if they’re going to fall out from under you, or if pieces are going to begin to break off as you use the scooter.
The G30P, instead, looks like a sturdy electric vehicle that will stand the test of time. Its high-quality design fills the rider with confidence before they even climb on board.
Overall, the durability upgrades that have been made help this scooter feel strong and sturdy. You won’t feel like you’re wobbling or balancing on a child’s toy – instead, you’ll feel like you’re using a small electric vehicle to commute to and from work.
Charging Outlet and Charging Time
One incredibly important, but often overlooked, component of a scooter is the design of the charging point. Without a well-designed, secure port and battery door, you may frequently find yourself frustrated while trying to accomplish this vital task.
Unfortunately, the door on the charging port of the Segway Ninebot Max G30P is not as easy to secure as the door on the original Max.
The original model had a battery door that was wider and locked down far more easily. However, if this is our main complaint with the scooter, that’s really not all that bad.
We like that Segway has built-in short circuit protection and overcurrent protection into the battery system. This ensures longer battery life and is critical for battery safety.
Warranty
Segway tends to have really great quality control, and almost never has manufacturing issues. However, the Segway Ninebot Max G30P does come equipped with a full year’s warranty if an individual purchase it through an authorized Segway dealer. This means that you should be sure that you purchase your scooter from someone who’s authorized to provide you with the warranty so that if you do experience an issue, you can have it serviced or repaired.
Safety
Like Segway’s entire range of Ninebot scooters, the Ninebot Max G30P is designed to offer riders a wide range of safety features. The battery is carefully designed to help prevent issues like overcharging and overheating, allowing you to charge it with safety and confidence. It also comes equipped with short circuit protection, overcurrent protection, an environmental temperature sensor for temperature protection, and is equipped to detect increased contract friction. Segway has really doubled down on battery safety, making sure that riders don’t have to stress.
This is great because when electric scooters first hit the market, riders, in general, were quite anxious about some of the issues that developed. Segway has managed to almost eliminate these concerns with this long list of safety features, making sure that you can relax while your scooter charges and drive it without stressing that it will overheat.
Because of these battery safety features, you’ll enjoy the power and performance that the powerful drivetrain from the rear-wheel-drive has to offer, without worrying about battery life, or battery status.
In addition, you can ride your Ninebot Max in numerous types of terrain. You don’t need to stick to only paved roads. Instead, your scooter is equipped to drive on numerous types of rougher surfaces and has a self-healing tire system that can handle almost anything you throw at them, as well as a powerful drivetrain. A self-healing tire also helps prevent tire deflation, keeping you on the road even when there’s an extraordinary climbing slope in your way.
Dual Braking Safety
Segway has also included an innovative regenerative brake system, so your braking is the best its ever been. This helps keep you safe and secure while on the road, especially when you need a simultaneous dual brake. Front-facing lights help ensure that you’re clearly seen, even after the sun has set.
The Kick scooter Max G30 also has an advanced simultaneous dual brake system, so you have the safety of better steering and increased stability. When you’re on your scooter, all you really want is to be able to go when you want to go and stop when you want to stop, without worry or stress.
Segway has gone out of its way to make sure that that happens with a myriad of increased safety features. You may not be able to see each one at work individually, but they combine for a great safety package that helps keep you safe when you’re on the road.
Visibility
They’ve also added numerous lights, stickers, and reflectors that allow you to see and be seen throughout your commute. These combined safety features create an overall safety package that’s hard to beat. Sometimes, with safety, simple features really are the best, as they help make sure that everyone can see you when you’re out and about. Safety and visibility go hand in hand in urban environments, which is where the majority of Segway’s customers ride their scooters.
