Xiaomi has finally decided to create a follow-up of their already widely loved scooter the M365. Let me introduce you to the Xiaomi M365 PRO<\/a> electric scooter.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At first glance, you might not notice it but there are actually some visible differences between the two. Apart from the new red details that is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s slightly bigger and the Pro model finally comes with an LCD display so that you can see whats happening without the need to pull out your phone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But which one is better for you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And should you upgrade from the M365<\/a> to the Pro model?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The questions are pouring in and we finally had the chance to test it so that we can finally answer all your questions. So behold, the big M365 Pro vs M365 comparison guide. Below is all you need to know and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comparison table for the Xiaomi m365 Pro VS Xiaomi m365<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We’ve previously compared<\/a> the m365<\/a> to the es4 and now its time to compare it to it’s successor, the Xiaomi Pro. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two scooters are visually pretty similar but below you can compare the two and see that the difference lies in the specifics. What sets them apart<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Some aesthetic changes have been made such as increasing the width of the handlebar by about 1 cm on each end. The handlebar also sits about 5 cm higher than on its previous version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Something else that has had a size increase is the base plate. It\u2019s both longer and wider providing your feet with the space they deserve. Especially good if you\u2019re like me and often have a kid riding with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A long-awaited upgrade is the LCD display and all I can say is finally. I never quite understood how you can skip something so simple as a display. I mean the extra cost really can\u2019t be that high. Especially considering the scooter is app-enabled already. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the new display, you find battery level, speed, what mode you\u2019re using, if the scooter is locked, if the headlight is on, and if there are any errors in its system. A great addition that didn\u2019t come a day too soon. A cool new feature the display has is that when charging the scooter the display lights up and shows you the battery percentage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The headlight on the pro is a bit brighter than the one found on the m365.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The wheels are the same, apart from the red detailing on the new model which makes you look so much cooler. And of course, the fact that the front wheel also boasts a slightly more powerful motor of 300W(peak 600W) up from the 250W(peak 500W).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The disc brake is larger which gives it a slight increase to braking power. This made the Pro stop about 0.5m sooner than the standard m365 did in our braking test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Pro has also had a good boost to range with a new 474Wh Battery(42v\/12.8Ah). This larger battery provides the scooter and its user with a distance of up to 28 miles. That is 9.4 miles up from the standard 18.6 miles per charge that the normal m365 has.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the new pro model’s increased frame size and the battery come with its drawback, its weight. At 31.3 lbs the pro is 4.4 lbs heavier than the predecessor at 26.9 lbs. But hey, it’s way more comfortable to ride on due to the wider base plate, and at least the higher handlebar position provides me with a better riding pose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few things to consider about Xiaomi m365<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The folding feature has the exact same design except for the hatch and they either forgot or didn\u2019t care to fix the already known problems with it. The issue that screws and bolts there can get loose from vibration. This leads to you having to tighten them every now and then. Otherwise, you\u2019ll end up with a shaky handlebar and stem. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, I recommend that you get this rubber add-on<\/a> which will drastically help against this. I mean every scooter needs to have its screws and nuts tightened from time to time, but the design flaw here makes it occur more often. And the solution has already been created so they were just lazy to not produce something similar and add it as standard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another thing I would have loved to see is improved comfort. This could have been done by simply adding some type of suspension like on some Segway scooters<\/a>. That would have been a nice improvement to the already great riding experience that is the m365.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another problem that is still present is the wire from the rear light being exposed to wear and tear from the tire. This will lead to the wire touching the wheel which will eventually break it. This will then leave you without a rear light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, there is a simple solution and that is to buy this rear splash guard stabilizer<\/a> for about $6. That will not only keep your rear light wire intact, it will also remove any noise that will occur when the splash guard bounces up and down as you ride. It also prevents you from breaking the splash guard while carrying it folded. The handlebar attaches to the splash guard so a lot of pressure is applied there when you carry it and this one really helps to reduce single point pressure. I actually broke it once before I got the stabilizer. Luckily a new splash guard was easy to change and set me back only $12. That is something I love with the m365 and its look-a-like models. There are so many cheap spare parts to be had and you can get them within a day or two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stupidly enough they also kept the plastic cover underneath for protecting both the battery and brain of your scooter. This could lead to you riding over a stone or something which could if you\u2019re out of luck, damage the battery that is mounted just underneath the cover. Also, the smallest of cracks in the plastic might let moist in which can for sure ruin the fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I would also like to note that the charging inlet is flawed. First of all its position is underneath the base plate, on the side. This is where all the dirt and water comes splashing up for crying out loud.
On top of placement they also keep the silly rubber cover that falls off all the time. After you\u2019ve put it in place for the 500th time on your first ride you will probably just cut it off. However, do not panic. A bit of moist, water and dirt here isn\u2019t going to kill the scooter. I\u2019ve literally been riding in snow with hoverboards back in Sweden and the charging inlet was often filled with snow and dirt. Just be sure it dries up before attempting to charge it and clean it once in a while. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s very unfortunate that they didn\u2019t spend a little more time fixing these minor issues as well as make some additional improvements that has been called for by former customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don’t get me wrong. The m365 <\/a>has by far the best design among these less pricey models and I really love riding mine. But, as someone who rides so much and test so many different models there is always more to wish for. I guess it was a matter of cost<\/a> and time consumption that lead them down the path of least resistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Review test data<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We performed a few tests on both scooters to see how they compare to each other. Below are the results of each test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Acceleration test – 0 to 15.5 mph <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Pro did it in 6.8sec while the M365 needed 9.7sec to reach its top speed. The test was performed standing still and going from 0 mph to max speed at 15.5 mph. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winner: The Pro is quicker and more responsive in all aspects. Whether it\u2019s from standing still or accelerating from a lower speed to a higher one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brake test – 15.5 mph to 0 mph <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

While going at full speed(15.5 mph) the m365 standard version needed 2.4 meters to complete a full stop, while the pro did the same stop in just 2 meters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winner: The pro with its slightly larger disc brake was the superior one in this test with a 17% shorter braking distance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hill test – 14 degree incline<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

From a still standing position the pro took 4 seconds to go the 4 meters test distance that we had put up, where the M365 needed 7 seconds<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Going at top speed before reaching the incline the pro did so in half that time 2 seconds and the m365 did so in 4 seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winner: The Xiaomi Pro is almost twice as effective at riding up hills as the Xiaomi m365. A pretty nice thing to have, especially if you’re living in Costa Del Sol like me where there are literally hills and mountains all over the place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Range test – 100% to 0%<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Going in sports mode(3rd gear) and full power all the way the PRO could cover a total of 15 miles on a single charge. The only time it really suffered was the end 10% in terms of speed<\/a> and while riding uphill you could really feel it struggle when I was closing in on the end of my commute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Going in top gear(second) with the standard scooter it landed me a solid 9.8 miles. I rarely get further than 10 miles on a single charge and in comparison, the standard m365 doesn\u2019t perform as well riding up hills. As power depleted the m365 suffers in terms of lower acceleration and top speed, but most effected was its ability to climb hills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winner: Yet again the clear winner is the Xiaomi Pro with its 15 mils and far better overall riding performance against the Xiaomi m365’s 9.8 miles. I estimate that both range test took about the same amount of time even though the pro got another 5 miles further than the m365. Main reason being it was able to maintain a higher speed during most of the test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Should you buy the Xiaomi PRO?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Short answer, yes. It’s a really good scooter and with the popular m365 design you know it\u2019s been heavily tested and runs like a charm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In my opinion, it\u2019s sad they didn\u2019t put in enough effort to sort out the design flaws that have been reported on the m365 version now when they created the pro model. Nonetheless, it\u2019s a really good scooter out of the box, and with a couple of add-ons, you can prevent most of its known problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you don’t need the increased range I would suggest that you have a look at the Macwheel Mx1<\/a> which has a stronger(350W) motor and display just as the Xiaomi pro. Best part, it can be yours for about half the price.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Should you upgrade from Xiaomi m365 to Xiaomi PRO?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Well, no. If I had a well working m365 I would not be upgrading to an Xiaomi Pro. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why is that?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The simple answer is: They haven\u2019t invested in fixing the weak points of the M365 design and the better range and acceleration isn\u2019t worth shoving out another bucket of money for when you already have a good scooter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, if you’re m365 is falling apart or if you could really use the extra range and power. Well, then it will be a worthy investment none the less.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last words of recommendation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

While I was expecting more in terms of fixes to the most common problems already known to Xioami, I think the upgrade is well worth the extra money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Xiaomi Pro definitely a high-quality scooter with a very thought-through design. I like how they\u2019ve made the base plate more spacious and that the handlebar is higher. It makes it look less like a kid’s toy when tall person is ride around on it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In terms of speed and acceleration its a really good upgrade. The increase in range is also well-welcomed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both scooters are very good and built by a reputable brand and they both provide you with a comfortable ride. There are lots of cheap 3rd-party spare parts to be had, should you ever need it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I would recommend the Pro to someone who needs the ability to cover greater distances per charge and who doesn\u2019t mind the increased weight and price tag. The pro isn\u2019t just a last mile solution. No, you can now take your scooter all the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for the m365<\/a> I still think its one of the best scooters out there in terms of durability and if you don’t need the range of the pro you can save yourself hundreds of dollars by going for the standard model instead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or you can have a look the look-a-likes such as the Macwheel MX1<\/a> which is basically the same scooter but with a motor stronger than the Pro at 350W, a display and a lower price tag the on both the Xiaomi scooters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
