Hiboy S2 Pro – Overview

If you’ve been a fan of electric scooters for any amount of time, you’re probably familiar with the  Hiboy brand and its contributions to the industry. The company is known for continuously offering superior products as well as excellent customer support. Today we’re taking a look at the popular Hiboy s2 electric scooter.

The S2 Pro appears to be another promising addition to the long superior series of HiBoy electric scooters, offering regenerative braking, solid rubber tires, recycled energy, and more.

In this Hiboy S2 Pro review, we’ll have to delve through the S2 Pro’s inner workings to see its max speed, shock absorption capability, safety, brake system, and ability to carry heavier riders, among other functions.

Read below for in-depth details on the aesthetics and functionality of the HiBoy S2 scooter.

Who Should Buy Hiboy S2 Pro Electric Scooter

While the Hiboy scooter is built for adults, with all its safety features and adjustable modes, it will work just as well for pre-teens and teenagers. This is mainly if they’ve been on a scooter before.

The Hiboy S2 Pro is a high-quality electric scooter that offers impressive performance and features. It has a powerful motor that can reach speeds of up to 19 mph, making it ideal for commuting or leisurely rides. The scooter also has a long-range battery that can travel up to 25 miles on a single charge, which is great for longer trips.

It is not a starter scooter! If you have to commute long distances to work or school, it has cruise control, and excellent shock absorption makes it suitable for almost anyone and many different terrains.

One of the standout features of the Hiboy S2 Pro is its dual suspension system, which provides a smooth and comfortable ride even on rough terrain. The scooter also comes with large pneumatic tires that offer excellent traction and stability, as well as an easy-to-use folding mechanism for convenient storage and transportation. Other notable features include an LED display screen, front and rear lights for added visibility at night, and multiple riding modes to suit different preferences or skill levels.

It also doesn’t require a recharge for nearly 30 miles, which means that if you travel within a five-mile radius, you can go back and forth almost the entire week without needing to plug it in.

Features of the Hiboy S2 Pro

Deck

Hiboy S2 Pro Deck

The Hiboy S2 scooter has a solid rubber deck that provides decent grip even if the bottom of your shoes is wet or if the deck has gotten a bit moist from a morning dew.

Handlebars / Information Center / Tech Stack

Hiboy S2 electric scooter tech stack

The handlebars are packed with features from the LED headlight to the control panel (power button, battery indicator, light, mode, temperature & cruise control).

You have the electric brake, bell, throttle, and charging port as well.

When the scooter is off, press and hold the button for five seconds to turn it on; when the scooter is on, press and hold the button for five seconds to turn it off.

To have more control of your Hiboy S2 scooter, just download the app. “Hiboy S2” can be downloaded from the “App Store” (iPhone) or via “Google Play” (Android).

The control panel has five power lights on it, which show the power level.

When the scooter is switched on, a single tap turns on or off the front and side LED lights.

Please move to the other side of the street to cool down the scooter when the icon lights up.

To adjust the riding mode, double tap. The color red denotes sports mode, while the color green denotes comfort mode.

You’ve triggered cruise control once the icon lights up.

Tires on the S2 – Solid Honeycomb Scooter Tires are Made to Last

Tires on the Hiboy S2

Another helpful addition is the large 10-inch solid rubber tires. They have excellent grip and increase overall driving performance significantly. The fact that these tires must be strong is one of their defining characteristics.

You won’t have to worry about the S2 Pro’s tires leaking air like pneumatic tires or having to be replaced because they’re solid tires made to last.

Solid tires can handle much more pressure from the weight and surfaces than pneumatic tires. Besides, they manage inclines beautifully. In addition, there is a rear fender over the rear wheel, which houses the rear LED light/brake light and protects you from getting overspray when you ride through a bit of water.

On a range of hills and terrain, many riders have put the S2 Pro to the test and have not been disappointed. This electric scooter retained its place near the top of the list of the best scooters we have tested throughout the various test runs.

It is important to note that scooters, like this Hiboy e-scooter, that have solid tires typically have a bit more of a rough ride as compared to those with pneumatic tires. We’d like to point out that the closest competitor to the Hiboy S2 Pro is the Segway Ninebot Max, and we feel like the Ninebot Max has a bit smoother of a ride simply because it has pneumatic tires. Something to think about.

CHECK PRICE

Lights

Hiboy S2 Pro Headlight and Tail light

To begin, ultra-bright LED headlights are an essential feature and great asset, with a range of up to 45 feet, ensuring that you are seen and protected at all times.

The incorporated tail light on the rear fender over the rear wheel is indeed a proper function, as it alerts those behind you that you are still around.

We do, however, encourage riders to wear appropriate safety equipment, such as protective clothing, a helmet, gloves, and so on.

Braking

Hiboy S2 Pro - Brake

The double braking system is one of the high points of the Hiboy S2 Pro Electric scooter.

The Hiboy S2 Pro has both electronic and disc brakes, resulting in excellent stopping ability. Like most scooters in this class, this Hiboy electric scooter has a regenerative braking system which will increase range and conserve overall battery consumption. However, in general, we feel that regenerative braking as a whole is more of a marketing ploy than something that provides substantial benefit. Regenerative braking really only adds a very short amount of energy back to the battery and isn’t enough to make much of a difference to the overall range.

One thing we found interesting was that riders might also use the Hiboy app to configure the double braking system so you can modify things like the electric brake response time and other features.

Max Speed

With a max speed of 19 mph, riders have enjoyed this updated version of the Hiboy S2 scooter. However, while this is all exciting, the max speed should only be attempted in the safest areas.

In a crowded area, the slower you go, the easier it is to slow down or stop. Also, if there are speed bumps, the manufacturers suggest that you go as slow as 5 mph. If you were to roll over speed bumps at max speed, it wouldn’t be too comfortable with the solid tire system on the hiboy s2 pro.

It is also not recommended that you accelerate while going downhill (however, I like to do it anyway — speed is my drug)! Otherwise, keep both feet on the deck and enjoy your scooter at full throttle.

Range

One of the hottest features of the Hiboy s2 electric scooter is its range. Riders like to know that they can use their scooter without worrying about charging it every day.

The Hiboy S2 Pro Electric scooter has a range of 25 miles on a single charge. It is said that because of regenerative braking, the overall battery life / overall range can be extended to 35 miles. This is because of the kinetic energy feature, which occurs when the scooter is in motion. The energy builds up and automatically lengthens the range. However, we’re skeptical that range improves that much (I have not ridden the scooter until it dies yet).

Water Resistance

The Hiboy Pro is only slightly water-resistant and should, therefore, not be operated in heavy rainfall or puddles.

This can affect the scooter’s ability to function well and cause a shortage in the electrical circuit. The owner’s manual states that you should not ride in a puddle that is higher than 0.79 inches.

Portability & Weight

Hiboy S2 Pro - Portability

The Hiboy s2 electric scooter has a foldable handlebar, and the scooter folds in about three seconds. The dimension, when folded, is 45.3*16.5*19.3 inches.

It is ideal for commuting to places where you cannot park a vehicle if you have lockers or need to place it in a corner.

Hiboy e-scooter folds for manageable storage in car trunks and other compact spaces anywhere you go. Additionally, it is easy to carry.

This is because the scooter only weighs 36.3 pounds, making it easy to lug around for short distances. Please ensure that the scooter is turned off before attempting to fold it.

To fold, unlock the folding tool and tilt the handlebar’s stem to clip the buckle on the rear fender. For the opening, squeeze the bell trigger to remove it from the hook. Finally, pull the handlebar upright and shut the folding system.

Build Quality of the HiBoy S2 Pro

Hiboy creates machines that are both inexpensive and high-quality, as well as devices that work well and last a long time. The S2 Pro is more on the premium end of their lineup. They do have budget scooter models, but this isn’t one of them. Hiboy S2 Pro was clearly built as a direct competitor to the Segway Ninebot Max, and neither models are budget scooter model but rather a solid platform that fits the needs of most riders and will last a long time. Budget scooter models have a tendency to break before you hit the 100-mile mark.

The S2 Pro is designed in such a way that you will never feel uncomfortable when zipping around town. As we did in our test, riders can easily use this scooter for errands at nearly 20 mph.

It never faltered in its success. But, more importantly, we were at ease the whole time we were using the S2 Pro.

The S2 Pro’s rear dual shock suspension system is a significant part of that comfort. This scooter offers a decent suspension system, but we wish it had pneumatic tires because you feel a lot more of the bumps with solid tires.

The springs in the suspension system are made of steel alloy, ensuring that the shocks would last a long time. Heavier riders can appreciate this as well, as the S2 Pro can easily carry a rider weight of up to 260 pounds.

Overall, we are very pleased with the build quality of this Hiboy electric scooter.

Charging Outlet and Charging time

Your scooter may be fast and full of features, but if the battery dies, anything else becomes a moot point.

The charging port is located near the console on the handlebar. Insert the charging plug after opening the rubber plug.

When the red (charging) light on the battery switches to green, the scooter is fully charged.

The charging will be switched off after a time of maximum loading.

Nonetheless, we do not suggest charging the scooter for an extended period.

When the charging port is wet, do not attach the charger. When not in use, shield the charging port. The input voltage is 110~240, and the S2 Pro’s battery can be fully charged in just 6 hours.

The Hiboy S2 Pro has excellent battery life with a 36-volt and 11.4-amp battery, which lets you ride the Pro approximately 25 miles on a single charge.

Having an e-scooter that can travel more than 20 miles is a big deal, and the S2 Pro should provide you with plenty of range to get everywhere you need to go

Bluetooth App

In this modern era, having Bluetooth connectivity capabilities is a significant selling point for people who are in the market to purchase an electric scooter.

The Hiboy scooter offers Bluetooth connectivity to its customers to use their devices as a wireless remote to handle and monitor their scooters.

The Hiboy App allows riders to pair their Hiboy electric scooter with their intelligent devices easily.

Once they are connected, riders can utilize the application to lock their scooter, customize their acceleration for the scooter, customize the cruise control, and of course, the response level of the braking system. You’ll also get things like overall max speed, trip distance, odometer etc.

Warranty

Hiboy handles quality-related warranty claims for transactions made through its registered distributors and merchants, like Walmart and Amazon, with a comprehensive warranty that’s detailed in the manual.

The same warranty covers all replacements as the original faulty item or three months after replacement, whichever comes first. Once a product has been wholly refunded, the warranty on it is null and void.

Hiboy does not guarantee that the scooter will operate without interruptions or errors. However, no electric scooter manufacturer can guarantee that one of their models will operate flawlessly forever. Overall, as we said before, we feel the build quality is solid, and we like that Hiboy has a warranty program to back up its products.

Safety

Hiboy has gone all out to ensure its customers’ protection, from lighting to the braking system.

When it comes to safety, the Hiboy e-scooter comprises an ultra-bright headlight so riders can easily commute at night. The headlight has a range that extends about 45-50 feet. Being able to see at that distance enhances the rider’s safety.

The lighting system is on the rear and sides of the scooter as well. A rider is surrounded by light. Meanwhile, the wide tires help you navigate over bumps more smoothly and reduce the chance of falling.

Additionally, with a top speed of 19 mph, riders want to know that they can stop quickly, and the double braking system on the Hiboy ensures that. It has disc braking, which is also backed up by an eABS regenerative anti-lock braking system.

Hiboy S2 Pro Spare Parts And Accessories

Hiboy stocks a variety of spare parts and accessories for the Hiboy S2 Pro in addition to their lineup of fantastic scooters.

Hiboy S2 Pro Review

Hiboy S2 Pro

The overall design and functionality of the Hiboy S2 Pro certainly earn an A. We were pleasantly taken aback by the genius design at such a low cost.

For instance, cruise control is an excellent feature that even high-end models occasionally lack. We also appreciate the Hiboy app. Not all scooters in this price range have a companion app (i.e. GoTrax scooters) so you can see details of your rides and update the firmware of the device.

Another feature that we like is the regenerative braking feature, which transforms kinetic braking energy into battery power, allowing you to go the extra mile.

Even though it’s a reasonably insignificant feature (and we’re not quite sold on how much-added range it actually provides), we still think at this price point it’s important to have — especially since the competitor, the Segway Ninebot Max, has it.

Strong, solid rubber tires with a diameter of 10 inches provide excellent grip and eliminate the chance of puncture, making them suitable for long-distance travel.

Rear dual shock absorption provides a smooth ride by quickly absorbing harsh hits and potholes, allowing riders to retain comfort and power.

The utterly folding frame helps riders fold, transport, and store their ride quickly and easily, making this an excellent electric scooter for commuters.

Hiboy Max Electric Scooter vs. S2 Pro

When comparing the Hiboy Max Electric Scooter and the Hiboy S2 Pro electric scooter, both of these versions are extremely affordable and come with a variety of fun and useful features.

With cruise control or regenerative braking on the Hiboy Max, you can relax your wrist. Both models have identical speeds, ranges, and payloads; aluminum carries up a max rider weight of 220 pounds.

Thanks to their robust aluminum alloy chassis, both models are also relatively small, with their weight being less than 20 kg each.

Overall, we believe the S2 Pro is the best Hiboy e-scooter or budget scooter currently available.

Hiboy S2 Pro Seat

Another great aspect of the Hiboy S2 Pro is the ability for you to add a seat. Attaching a seat makes your commute much more enjoyable. It makes the electric scooter feel more like an electric bike when you add this attachment.

Plus, the seat isn’t a permanent fixture on the scooter, so you can remove it at any time.

The Hiboy S2 Pro seat is both retractable and adjustable to suit your individual needs. You can increase height from about 21 inches all the way to 30.7 inches with the sturdy aluminum rod.

The seat, which is manufactured by HiBoy, has a nice leather saddle and is well-made. It’s easy to maintain and should stand up to the elements with no issues.

Hiboy S2 Pro Manual / Hiboy S2 Manual

Sometimes the greatest resource for a new product is the manufacturer’s instruction manual. Whether you already have the scooter or you are interested in buying one, here is a link to the HiBoy S2 Pro manual download so you can explore all of the details about this incredible scooter.

This is a combination manual for two different scooters. Inside you’ll not only find instructions for the HiBoy S2 Pro but this is also the link to the HiBoy S2 manual.

Conclusion

We can conclude that the S2 Pro has excellent build quality, solid tires, suitable speed, high tolerance for rider weight and great safety features. LED taillights and a super headlight are included.

Traveling at nighttime has never been easier and can maybe now be achieved with total protection.

The value might be the most remarkable of all. We’re not sure how Hiboy managed to build such a hard runner without costing an arm or a leg, but it is value for money. If you look at this model and compare it to the Segway Ninebot Max (as we did), you will find this scooter is cheaper, and you’re getting almost an identical machine.

The S2 Pro is one of the best daily commuting scooters and a budget-friendly extension to Hiboy’s collection, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s a high-end platform.

The completely foldable frame also includes a variety of hooks for hanging light items, which is a surprisingly simple but welcome addition.

Riders can check stats, adjust settings, and diagnose their riding with the Hiboy app, which is compatible with iOS and Android phones. We appreciate having Bluetooth / app connectivity when you’re spending this much on a scooter. We also like the GoTrax G4 and the new GoTrax Gmax Ultra, but neither model offers an app which we feel is a huge missing at this price point.

Overall, this great model is well worth the money, making it one of the most affordable electric scooters for commuters.
